Mazomanie Free Library Celebrates its 115th Anniversary on Sunday, May 4, 2014
Plan to attend a party over a century in the making! The Mazomanie Free Libary, which was created on May 4, 1899, will celebrate its 115th anniversary on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The festivities will culminate when any and all residents of the Village of Mazomanie are invited to pose for a community photo at 3:00 p.m. in front of the library. Cake will follow at the Community Building, 9 Brodhead St.
Participants of all ages are invited to visit the current library, which is located in the oldest remaining wood frame train depot in Wisconsin at 102 Brodead St. Pick up a "train ticket" and a map, then enjoy an easy, leisurely walk through downtown Mazo and see the sites where the library used to be located. Along the way, get your ticket stamped at various downtown businesses where visitors can participate in family-friendly events. Turn in completed tickets for a chance to win a Kindle Fire HD or other prizes.
At the library:
- Library history display (1-3pm);
- Technology workshop: bring your own device - Kindle, Sony e-reader, etc. - and our expert will show you how to download library material for free via Overdrive (1-3pm);
- Book talk by local author and illustrator, Stacia Grabber at 2pm.
Downtown businesses: Bingo! Trivia! Crafts! (1-3pm)
Everyone is invited to assemble for a Community Photograph in front of the library at 3pm.
Followed by cake and prize drawings at the Community Building approximately 3:30-4pm.
