FAMILY PROGRAMS

Performers in the Library's Community Room:



Duke Otherwise: Tuesday, June 11 @ 6:30 PM
Duke Otherwise captivates audiences with his witty songs and his unique showmanship; while encouraging and
stimulating creativity through story-telling and excellent musicianship.

Nature's Niche: Thursday, June 27@ 2 PM
"Remnants of the Rainforest": This presentation includes tropical animals such as live spiders, insects,
amphibians, snakes, turtles, lizards, tropical birds, and mammals found in rainforests.


Mark Hayward: Friday, July 26 @ 2 PM
Mark Hayward is a world-class yo-yo performer and comedy juggler who is really good at playing with toys. Yo-yoing
offers a wide range of appeal, from adults who played with yo-yo's when they were young, to today's children
who want to learn this fun pastime.

Pint Size Polkas: Thursday, August 15 @ 6 PM (Loganville Village Hall)
Pint Size Polkas proves that polka music is the happiest form of music on the face of the earth. Pint Size Polkas
will help children and their families discover the good, clean fun of polka music that is both educational
and entertaining at the same time.



TUESDAYS ARE FAMILY FUN NIGHTS
Families are welcome to the Library every Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM for a variety of family fun. Kicking off the Family Fun Night Series is a unique musician, Duke Otherwise on June 11 at 6:30 PM. The other family fun activities will include worm races, seed planting, kitchen science, sprout growing and crafts.
Tuesdays @ 6:30 PM- June 11,18,25, July 2,9, 16 and 23.

SIGN,SING AND PLAY
New this summer is an American Sing Language (ASL) program for the whole family. Miss Laura will teach basic signs for babies and beyond. There will be free play time for parents to practice signing with their babies, for preschoolers to learn songs in sign and for school age children to sign with their family and friends.
Wednesdays @ 9 AM- June 12, 19, 26, July 3, 10, 17 and 24.

Loganville Book Bunch
Wednesday, June 26, July 10, 17, 24, 31, August 7 and 14
@ 10am
Outreach programs at the Village Hall in Loganville for children of all ages begin June 26. Be ready for crafts,
stories and book check-out.

Monday Movie Matinee
Free movies will be shown on the big screen in the Library’s Community Room Monday afternoons. Snacks can be
carried in along with pillows and blankets for comfortable floor seating. The films will be rated G or PG. Check the
movie posting board for each week's feature.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS




Babygarten
Parents, caregivers, siblings and babies 0-24 months are welcome to join us in the Community Room for 45 minutes of
books, songs, rhymes and free playtime.  No need to register. 
Mondays @ 10am

Junior Lunch Bunch Tuesdays
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and and blanket to the Community Room on Tuesday at noon for storytime.
As families eat, Miss Kris and Miss Laura will read books, share songs, teach American Sign Language (ASL) and provide
a "Dig into Reading" craft project.
Tuesdays @ noon – June 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16 and 23

Wednesday Morning Storytime
This is a “second helping” of Junior Lunch Bunch for families or daycare groups that may prefer storytime
without the picnic lunch. 
Wednesdays @ 10am –June 12,19, 26, July 3,10, 17 and 24.

Preschool Players Present "Stone Soup"
Children ages 4 and 5 will rehearse on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and perform on Thursday evening in the
Library’s Community Room for friends and family. Space is limited, so please register for one of the sessions:


Session I:  Rehearsals-June 25 & 26 3-3:45 pm.  Performance-Thursday June 27 @ 6:30 pm
Session II:  Rehearsals-July 16 & 17 3-3:45 pm.  Performance-Thursday July 18 @ 6:30 pm
Session III: Rehearsals- August 6 & 7 3-3:45 pm.  Performance-Thursday August 8 @ 6:30 pm

DISCOVERY PROGRAMS FOR ELEMENTARY AGE CHILDREN


The first Discovery Program is the return of Mary Tooley for her presentation called "Wonder Down Under".
Mary will teach us all about animals from Australia and include a craft project for everyone to take home.
Children going into K-3rd grades will meet Thursday, June 13 @ 1 PM
Children going into 4th and 5th grades will meet Thursday, June 13 @ 3 PM

The other Discovery Programs will include using clay, paper-making, juggling, dissecting owl pellets
and a visit from Nature's Niche to talk about the rainforest.
Thursdays, June 20, 27, July 11, 18 and 25 @ 2 PM for all children going into K-5th grades.
Please register in the Children's Area of the Library.



READING EDUCATION ASSISTANCE DOG (R.E.A.D.)

The Reedsburg Public Library is thrilled to have a R.E.A.D. dog as part of the Summer Library Program.
Children of all ages are welcome to read to a dog that has been trained for this national literacy program.

Reedsburg Readers – Book Discussion Clubs
Join a book club for an exciting time of book related activities. A Library card should be brought to each meeting so the next book to be discussed can be checked out. Space is limited, please register.

READING INCENTIVE PROGRAMS

 

Preschool Reading Incentive Program: "Read to Me" is for pre-readers. Children participate with family members, friends or caregivers who read books to them and record the titles in a reading folder. Their reading goal is at least five books per week. A prize envelope filled with coupons from area businesses is awarded beginning July 22nd for pre-readers who have met or exceeded their goal.

School Age Reading Incentives: "Reading Rocks" is a reading incentive program for independent readers through 5th grade. Children set their own summer reading goal and record the books read in a reading folder. A prize envelope filled with coupons from area businesses is awarded beginning July 22nd for readers who have met their goal.
