About the SCLS Acceptable Use Policies
This page is http://www.scls.lib.wi.us/staff/policy, last updated June 10,
1996.
There are several policy documents which govern the use of network services
in the SCLS domain. There may also be a local policy governing the use of
computing resources in your library. SCLS policies were drafted by the LINK
Internet Task Force and adopted by LINK in 1995.
The SCLS Acceptable Use Policy for Library Staff (www/staff/policy/staffaup.html)
This document defines your rights and responsibilities as a user of SCLS
and LINK network services. It is based on ideas and declarations found in
a variety of Internet use policies from other libraries and educational
institutions. You are expected to understand and abide by the provisions
of this document.
The SCLS Patron Acceptable Use Policy (www/sclspaup.html)
This document is the brief policy statement that patrons will encounter
on the SCLS web server and elsewhere in the LINK network service structure.
Its basic purpose is to alert patrons that network services are a protected
library resource. Public posting of this policy is necessary to preserve
SCLS's legal standing should law enforcement officials need to be involved
in a case of network service abuse.
The SCLS Security Guidelines (www/staff/policy/security.html)
This document outlines the reasons why network services are protected with
security measures, offers some information on how this protection is provided,
and gives users some common sense guidelines to help reinforce these protections.
