Summer Library Program

Dig Into Reading

June 1 - August 10

Children ages 2-12 can sign up at "The Dig Site" in the library beginning Saturday, June 1.

For every hour you read, have a parent/caregiver initial a shovel on the reading record.
After completing 4 hours of reading, bring the record to the Dig Site and receive a prize.
If you read 16 hours you will complete the program and win the grand prize: a free book!

Find the Pirate
May 25-June 29

Look for a picture of a pirate hidden in the Children’s Room of the library.
Children who find the hidden picture will win a prize.
The pirate will be moved throughout the month, so children can search each time they come to the library,
but can only win the prize once.


Science Explorers
Tuesdays, June 11, 18 and 25
2:00 - 2:45pm

Conduct hands-on experiments and learn about gross, weird and amazing science.
Dress to get messy.

Ages 6-10.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required, starting May 28.


Preschool Storytime
Wednesdays, June 12 – August 14
10:00 - 10:45am

Storytime for children ages 0-5 and their families, with stories, songs, puppets, flannel boards, crafts and more!
A great mixed age group for families with multiple children.

No registration required.
No story time July 3.


Preschool Players
Wednesdays, June 12, 19 and 26 at 1:30-2:15pm
Performance Wednesday, June 26 at 6:30pm

Calling all actors ages 4 and 5 to star in a library play.
Do you like to sing, wear costumes and act?
Then this program is for you!
Family and friends are invited to the performance.

Registration begins Saturday, June 1.
Registration is limited to 12 participants.


Totally Toddlers
Fridays, June 14 – August 16
9:30 - 10:00am
Storytime for children ages 0-3 and their families, with stories, songs, puppets, crafts and more.
Younger and older siblings are welcome.

No registration required.
No story time July 5.


Digging Up Dinosaurs
Fire Station Meeting Room
Thursday, June 20 at 6:30-7:15pm

Come learn how scientists find dinosaur fossils and how they get them out of the ground. 
You'll learn about the kinds of dinosaurs that lived in North America and where their remains can be found.
There will be real dinosaur fossils to examine, as well as some of the equipment that is used to dig 'em up.
Presented by Mel Reusche and Kim Johnson of the University of Wisconsin.

Ages 6-10.
No registration required.


Summer Family Movies
Thursdays, June 27 and July 25 at 2pm

Enjoy popcorn and juice provided by the Stoughton Optimists Club
while you watch a movie on our big screen.

All ages.

Dinosaur Guess
July 1-31

Guess how many dinosaurs are in the jar and win a prize.
The 5 closest children will win a prize.
Children can guess each time they visit the library in July.  


Art Explorers

Make art projects in the style of great artists, ancient and modern.

Learn about animals and their habitats in “Diggin’ Up the Future.”
This performance features lively life-like animal puppets, humor, music, excitement, and education.
