What is LINKcat?

LINKcat is a shared computer system that allows public libraries in the South Central Library System to make their materials easily available to you.

Turn the page to learn how to find your favorite books, videos, magazines, compact discs and other materials on the computer.

TO GET STARTED

If the screen is blank, press the SHIFT key.


If you are at the Welcome to LINKcat screen, press the RETURN key.

 

If you are at the LINKcat Main Menu screen, press 1 and
RETURN for the LINK Materials Catalog.

If you are at the LINK Materials Catalog, press 9
and RETURN for Children's Materials.

 

IF YOUR SCREEN DOES NOT MATCH ONE OF
THESE SCREENS, type SO to start over.

TO SEARCH

 

You may choose to search by Children's AUTHOR, MAIN WORD or EXACT TITLE.

 

To search by Children's AUTHOR, press 1 and RETURN.

 

 

1. Children's AUTHOR - The Children's AUTHOR search finds authors,
performers and actors who are the closest match to your entry.

Type a last name, then a first name or initial and press RETURN.

Type the number next to the entry that matches your search and press RETURN to see available items.

 

Press 3 and RETURN to see items by Beatrix Potter. Those items highlighted belong to the library you are in.

 

 

 

2. Children's MAIN WORD - The Children's MAIN WORD search finds a word or words in any location of an author's name, a title or a subject heading of a children's item.

 

To search by Children's MAIN WORD, press 2 and RETURN.

Type a word or words in any combination and press RETURN to see available items.

 

Sample searches:

tying shoes
George Washington
Goodnight Moon

 

 

3. Children's EXACT TITLE - The Children's EXACT TITLE search allows you to browse alphabetically through the list of children's titles.

 

To search by Children's EXACT TITLE, press 3 and RETURN.

Type the first word or words in the children's title and press RETURN to see an alphabetical list of available titles.

Superfudge
The Berenstain Bears
